when are the 1,100 police coming to Oakland, Mayor Dellums? we all voted for measure Y in 2004, yet we actually have LESS police (739) then when the measure was passed!
WHERE IS THE MONEY GOING?
two residents on Canon Ave. were mugged at 10pm this past Thursday night. the thugs are working their way to the hills, it seems. first in Maxwell park, then to the laurel where they knocked out a worker at world grounds coffee, now to the dimond and the glenview.
on a side note, i went to get gas at the shell station on fruitvale next to the Peet's Coffee on the way home. there was the usual transient asking for money who's always there (why?). THEN, there were 3 guys in a Cadillac loitering near the air/water station. screaming and yelling. one came up to the teller and said "you don't talk to people like that" and PUNCHED A HOLE THROUGH THE GLASS!
i left. not because i thought they'd come after me, but because if they pulled a gun, I'd bet they are NOT that great a shot!
the city is going back to the crime heyday of the 1990's and we have NO WORD from our mayor on what he's going to do about it!
