I recently returned to work after an extended period of time off, nine months to be exact. Many predicted I would last two weeks at most. Oh, how wrong they were. If given the opportunity, I could easily take an additional nine months off.  I was recently recruited by several companies to work on Web 2.0 strategies. I am now a bonafide consultant. I’ve somehow managed to get myself from no work to an overwhelming amount of work (laughter). I think ‘tis why I was labeled a workaholic.

In June 2005, I moved to Oakland after 20 years as a San Francisco dweller.  My desire for a backyard, trees and real summers brought me to Dimond, Oakland. (I really should tell the truth that I followed a man out here, and that would be Alex.)

Two of my many obsessions during my time off were blogs, social networks and web culture, which led to my current consulting projects. I find blogs and social networks fascinating, and two of the most useful inventions of our time. We can now, in a matter of seconds, share with the world our thoughts, ideas and inventions. We can ask questions and answer questions. To anyone who wants to listen. This is my definition the power of voice.

I also blog at Grenade Fishing. Unlike Dimondites.com, Grenade Fishing is a site without focus. However, it is a site that carries a lot of personal passion. It is where I share my knowledge and interest in the world of merchandising, marketing, sustainability, fashion, web culture, street culture and other topics I find interesting or humorous. I share some of these articles with Dimondites.com.
