Awesome Vet + pet hospital
Roger Schulze, DVM, of Broadway Pet Hospital (far left) was amazing. He really took care of East, and I think he saved East’s life. I can tell he loves animals, and it’s not only by how he handled East. He was the first pet caretaker I’ve encountered who speaks equal of dogs and human - he related East’s pain to his own experience. When I asked Dr. Schulze if East needed to continue his pain medication, he replied,
“Have you ever had an appendix problem? Well, I have. It’s extremely painful. I’m pretty sure East is going through the same pain right now.”
I really appreciated his looking out for poor East, making sure he was as comfortable as possible.
That day I had both their files transferred to Dr. Schulze. He is really terrific. The hospital staff were awesome as well. They all knew East by name, and always made a point to stop and pet East on the head. The “cage” East was in was a full-sized room with enough space for both Alex and I to sit inside with East when we came by to visit. They also offer emergency care. Super clean environment with open work space, so you don’t have to worry about “what’s happening behind there?”

FYI, our regular vet (Oakland Veterinary on MacArthur) was too busy to take East, even though we’ve been going there almost every two weeks for the past several months (dropping about $1,000 last three visits). And even after we told them he collapsed and couldn’t even raise his head.
