The pigeons may not agree...
The Dimond commercial area has been plagued with pigeons. What do you do about it? Stop feeding them, would be one solution. (Note to shop owners who are feeding them, please stop, okay?) Or you get the city to do something about it, like trim the trees.
In an email to the Dimond List, Timothy Chapman sent a thank you to Richard Cowan for helping…
“I stopped by Dimond Bakery tonight and Paul told me that he and his
customers were very happy that the City had trimmed the tree branches
that had been overhanging the sidewalk in front of the bakery because
this is where the pigeons have been sitting, eating the insects, and
depositing their mess on the sidewalk.
Paul said that his customers were giving thumbs-up to the City crew
who were trimming the trees.
Thanks goes to Jean Quan’s Chief of Staff Richard Cowan for getting this done!”
The ever-so-gracious (though he doesn’t necessarily agrees with this description, by the way) Richard Cowan responded,
“I will take a small bit of this credit, but most of it goes to Dan
Gallagher, the city’s Tree Services Manager, and his terrific crew.”
Robert Raburn, a D.I.A. board member, chimed in,
“Let me step in and note that if you had not made a personal on-site inspection with members of the DIA, the needs in the area would likely not have become a priority. I’m sure I speak for all of the DIA Board and super-volunteers like Tim Chapman in acknowledging your key role in getting results. “
Bravo to all for the attention, and the acknowledgements, and the action. We deserve the right to walk without pigeon air attacks, so we appreciate the efforts very much.
Now, when it gets to this, we’ll need a bit more than tree trimming….
(My mom will kill me if she see’s this.)
