I stumbled on this site by accident tonight. Its mission is “stories about Oakland.” I think it’s an interesting concept, and I definitely like the fact they allow user interaction. You can send in comments and upload photos (see below). A bit of web 2.0 with a hint of wiki, but not quite there yet. It’s missing trackbacks and syndication tools, so I’m skeptical bloggers will actively participate, as there’s no return value for the work. (Bloggers contribute a lot of free content.)

I’m very appreciative they included Dimond as its own neighborhood. Here’s a quick view of what the Dimond section looks like. (The Dimond section needs stories and photos. So if you have time, join in.) Click image to visit their site.
