bending corners in the hood

“Bending corners in the hood.” 

For some reason I identified this urban slang with Oakland. Maybe the word ‘hood’? The translation to normal people talk is “walking around your neighborhood looking for things to do.”  Miss Negative translates this to “Walking around your neighborhood looking to start trouble.”  Is that bad of me?
