FOSC Native Plant Sale
Native Plant Sale at FOSC’s Native
Plant Nursery at Joaquin Miller Park
The Friends of Sausal Creek’s Native Plant Nursery will be holding its second Native Plant Sale, Sunday, April 27, 2008, 10am-5pm. At 11am and 2pm, we will do some hands-on propagating and give attendees a plant sample to take home.

The FOSC nursery grows only local natives, from seeds and cuttings collected in the Sausal Creek watershed and nearby. Our main goal is growing plants for creek restoration projects, school native plant projects, Oakland parks, and similar uses. This plant sale will help support the nursery efforts.

The nursery work occurs on an ongoing basis, mostly by volunteers. We’ll need a lot of extra effort to get ready for the tour and the plant sale. Volunteer at least 20 hours, and you’ll not only get a sneak preview, we’ll give you first dibs at the selection! Volunteer hours are 1:30 to 4:30 on Saturdays.
Information:
The nursery is located in Joaquin Miller Park, on Sanborn Road. If driving, take the Joaquin Miller Drive exit off of Highway 13, head uphill. Turn left onto Sanborn (there are lots of signs, including one in the median that says “Native Plant Nursery.”) To reach the nursery, park near the Ranger Station, and walk past the yellow gate across Sanborn; the nursery is about 14 mile on your left. (Download map.) On the day of the plant sale, there will be greeters to assist you.
Click for a list of the plants we hope to have for sale. Note: the nursery does not ordinarily sell plants to the public, and are not staffed to accommodate walk-in customers during volunteer hours.

Kaiser Permanente Children's Art Contest
We’re looking for your children’s artwork! We’re holding an art contest that ends on Monday, Dec. 31. The first 200 kids to enter will win a KP Sport Pouch.
All children learn right from wrong at an early age, and we’d like to see their portrayal of the classic rules you teach them, for example: fairness, honesty, or safety.
